Policy Officer (Housing and Social Care) Maternity cover
Just for Kids Law and CRAE are looking for a maternity cover for a Policy Officer (Housing and Social Care) to join our small but influential Policy and Public Affairs Directorate, which also includes the Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE). Using a child rights framework and evidence from the organisation’s direct practice, the Directorate undertakes influential lobbying work at a domestic and international level to ensure children’s rights are fully respected.
The successful candidate will have some experience of working on relevant policy issues relating to children and young people’s social care and/or housing. They will be instrumental in developing and implementing our ongoing campaigns to ensure homeless young people get the entitlements they deserve, which is now more important than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They will have a good understanding of the policy making process, how to influence decision makers at both a national and local level and how to work with young people affected by the issues to campaign for change. They will be extremely motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the CRAE Policy and Public Affairs Manager, the post holder will also be closely involved in our child rights monitoring work and support them in engaging CRAE’s members and drafting the civil society submission for the UK’s examination under the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child due in November. This role presents a unique opportunity to learn about international human rights treaty monitoring mechanisms and how to influence the process.
To apply, please complete the application form on Just for Kids Law website here. CVs will not be accepted.
Closing time for all applications is 11.30pm on Monday, 22th June 2020.
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 1st July 2020 via Zoom.
