  • Government publishes response to UN Committee The Government has submitted its response to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child's List of Issues on the UK. CRAE will be working with our members and the other children’s rights alliances in the UK to submit a civil society response to the List of Issues. Read more Mar 2016

  • Staffing changes and projects After nearly eleven years at CRAE, we are very sorry to say goodbye to our Co-Director, Carla Garnelas. Louise King (Carla’s job-share) will be continuing as Director of CRAE and we have recently appointed two Senior Policy and Public Affairs Advisors to join Louise, and Maria Stephens, our Participation Project Manager.   • Joint Enterprise Our Just for Kids Law colleagues recently welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court in the case of Jogee. Just for Kids Law was one of two organisations which intervened in the case, along with Jengba (Joint Enterprise Not Guilty by Association). Read more Mar 2016

  • See it, Say it, Change it meet with the Children’s Minister See it, Say it, Change it, which supports children to get their views heard in the UK child rights examination, has had a busy start to the year with a steering group to discuss the next part of the project, sending letters to their MPs and meeting with the Children’s Minister Edward Timpson MP.   • Time to rethink the secure estate CRAE has been raising serious concern about violence against children in custody for many years. The secret filming at Medway Secure Training Centre (STC) and subsequent broadcast of the BBC Panorama documentary, ‘Teenage Prison Abuse Exposed’ in January has finally brought the issue into the public domain.
