ROCK event on Incorporating the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into National Law - Lessons from Scotland

Our second event in our two-part series of ROCK events on the incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) shared learning from Scotland on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. We heard from individuals and groups who played a key part in securing this landmark piece of legislation.

Our speakers were Clare Haughey MSP, the Scottish Minister for Children and Young People; members of the Children’s and Youth Parliaments; Bruce Adamson, Scottish Commissioner for Children and Young People; Juliet Harris, Director of Together; and the Chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Mikiko Otani.

The event was co-chaired by Josh Kennedy MSYP, the Chair of the Scottish Youth Parliament, and Louise King, the Director of the Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE), part of Just for Kids Law (JfKL), and current ROCK Chair.

This event was organised by the Rights of the Child UK (ROCK) steering group: CRAE (part of JfKL), Together, Children in Wales, Wales UNCRC Monitoring Group and UNICEF UK.
