We are pleased to announced the first in our new series of briefings “Children speak out” which builds upon the findings of the research in the children and young people’s report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
In the first briefing children speak out on transgender issues and talk about their experiences in education; respect for their identity; and health care. Children we spoke to highlighted problems in each of these areas including bullying, lack of accessible information and poor levels of knowledge and provision in healthcare. The publication of the briefing is timely and covers many of the concerns raised in the Government response to the Transgender Equality report which was published by the Women and Equalities Committee in July 2016.
