Written evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights Inquiry on Covid-19

The emergency provisions in the Coronavirus Act 2020 and its associated regulations restricts many children’s rights set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and will have many long-term consequences on children’s lives, particularly those whose rights are most often at risk. In our submission to the JCHR Inquiry on the human rights implications of the Government response to Covid-19, Just for Kids Law, CRAE and YJLC call on the Government to ensure a CRIA is undertaken and the impact on children’s rights are considered as part of the six-month review of the Coronavirus Act.
